About the Pacific Palisades Preservation Coalition

Founded in response to the devastating Southern California wildfires, the Pacific Palisades Preservation Coalition (PPPC) unites artists, preservationists, architects, and cultural organizations dedicated to safeguarding the region’s historical and architectural heritage. As families navigate the challenges of rebuilding, the coalition provides resources, advocacy, and innovative strategies to ensure the cultural fabric and integrity of the Pacific Palisades endures.

Our Mission

The Pacific Palisades Preservation Coalition believes that preservation is not just about protecting the past—it’s about ensuring the community’s identity thrives in the face of modern challenges, including climate change and wildfire risks. Our mission is guided by three core principles:

• Heritage Protection – Identifying and preserving significant cultural and architectural assets.

• Sustainable Preservation – Developing climate-resilient, fire-safe building guidelines that honor the area's historic character.

• Community Engagement – Providing educational resources, advocacy, and collaborative opportunities to empower residents in the rebuilding process.

Our Work

PPPC is a collaborative effort initated by Dr. Brigitte Nicole Grice, artist and co-founder of Chez Max et Dorothea, alongside members from key organizations including:

• Los Angeles Conservancy – Generating a comprehensive survey of lost architectural heritage.

• Save Iconic Architecture – Leading the 2025 Case Study Program in partnership with Architectural Digest, promoting sustainable architectural experimentation.

• House Museum – Creating a public artwork using donated fireplace and chimney remains to memorialize the Palisades Fire.

• Villa Aurora, Thomas Mann House, Public Sculpture Archive, CURA Art, Studio 1323, and other cultural institutions – Collaborating to ensure a thoughtful and resilient rebuilding process.
